Digital Director

Ceisler Media & Issue Advocacy seeks a Director of Digital and Creative Services to deepen and expand the firm’s integrated content offerings.  This individual will be responsible for managing, developing, executing and measuring digital media efforts for a variety of firm clients.  In addition, the Director of Digital and Creative Services will serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders, existing clients and prospective new business partners.   This position will report to the Firm’s Principal and has the opportunity to be based in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia or Harrisburg.  The right candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, strong project management skills and serve as a leader within the agency, spearheading the growth of this business line.


  • At least ten years’ digital experience at a public relations agency and/or an in-house communication leadership role for a corporation, political campaign or non-profit organization and at least ten years’ experience in communications and/or grassroots advocacy

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science or other liberal arts disciplines.  Certifications and trainings in digital media are a plus


  • Lead digital and creative team to support client needs including but not limited to social media content strategy, graphics, video, digital advertising buys, social listening services and other online tactics that serve as part of an integrated campaign strategy

  • Collaborate with other departments on digital strategy, creative components and campaign tactics for existing clients and new business prospects

  • Able to deliver against functional responsibilities in strategic and self-guided manner on high volume of accounts of varying scales and scope

  • Develop efficient team and firm processes and infrastructure for clients, campaigns including the human capital and software resources required to growth-minded scaling

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on all aspects of digital media campaigns, including paid advertising and additional targeting to reach desired audiences for maximum impact

  • Cultivate a culture that tests assumptions to determine the most effective way to achieve outcomes for the client’s goals through data-based proof points 

  • Support the growth and development of team members within the department and cross-functionally that will lead to the design of thoughtful, integrated media campaigns that are measurable

  • Create reporting mechanism for clients that show the quantitative and qualitative, comparable results that demonstrate the impact of digital and creative efforts as part of a campaign 


Required Competencies

  • Experience in leading and integrating digital and social media campaigns into traditional earned media or advocacy efforts

  • Proficient in all social platforms (notably Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube) and including advertising components of each

  • Senior leadership experience leading project teams, client work and delivering presentations.

  • Understanding of best practices for digital advocacy, social media campaigns, and tracking analytics

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and execute against deliverables under deadlines and competing priorities

  • Proficient in social listening/monitoring and scheduling software (SproutSocial, Brandwatch, Hootsuite)

  • Strong understanding of public relations; proven track record with media engagement. Integrated campaign experience a plus.

  • Confident personality supported by disciplined, logical thinking and fact-based, documented conclusions and opinions

  • Proven track record of excellence, ownership, and accountability

  • Results-oriented and service-minded with ability to develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally

  • Highly focused, organized, and detail-oriented

  • Exceptional interpersonal, networking, and influencing skills

  • Willingness to adapt to the many changing requirements/needs of a fast-paced company and industry

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

We are looking for interns for the spring semester to assist associates with a variety of activities in the Philadelphia office. This is an unpaid opportunity; Ceisler Media will work with interns’ college or university to ensure appropriate college credits are received. Ceisler Media’s valuable interns complement the work of Ceisler Media staff with supplementation of educational training sessions. Completion of a Ceisler Media internship in no way guarantees employment upon completion

Duties include not limited to:

  • News monitoring

  • Conducting research for clients

  • Making follow-up calls to reporters

  • Crafting messages for clients

  • Planning events

  • Attending meetings

  • Organizing news clips for clients

  • Drafting media advisories

  • Sending pitches to the media



  • Majoring in Communications, Political Science, Urban Studies, Business, or in a related field.

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior year (previous internship(s) required).

  • Interested in politics and what is going on in the area and across the state.

  • Strong writing skills.          

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.                                                              

  • Able to work 12-15 hours a week throughout the semester
