Caitlin O’Connor advises Ceisler Media clients on all aspects of media relations. She is expert at pitching stories and getting them placed, crafting effective communications strategies, and building and sustaining clients’ reputations.
In her role, Caitlin works with a variety of Ceisler’s corporate and non-profit clients where she plans publicity strategies and campaigns, advises them on media messaging, serves as an on the record spokesperson, drafts letters to the editor, columns, and articles, and handles media buying. Additionally, she has developed an expertise in crisis communications, working with clients to help them deal with unforeseen incidents and navigate the response process. That role involves serving as a media gatekeeper, monitoring media coverage, facilitating community relations, and working with stakeholders.
One of the clients that Caitlin manages is Wesley Family Services, an organization that provides a diverse range of quality behavioral health and therapeutic support services to more than 30,000 individuals throughout Western Pennsylvania each year. Given the size and scope of Wesley Family Services, Caitlin ensures that the organization’s overall mission is continually being told, and she is always working on unique pitches that will showcase its work. Recently, she connected the organization to pop-sensation Miley Cyrus, and as a result, secured an exclusive TV story that highlighted their Creative Arts program. That story was subsequently featured on more than 25 media outlets across the country.
Caitlin joined Ceisler Media's Pittsburgh office in 2016. Prior to her work at the firm, Caitlin spent more than seven years in the political sphere where she held a variety of roles working for two members of the U.S. Congress: Congressman Tim Murphy and Senator Arlen Specter - before and after the famous party switch. She worked as a Community Liaison in Mt. Lebanon and a Legislative Correspondent on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. for Congressman Murphy. On the Hill, Caitlin was responsible for managing the Congressman’s constituent and executive correspondence, and a variety of public policy issues and congressional caucuses that were a part of the office’s legislative portfolio. She also served as a caseworker for Senator Specter in his Northwest Regional office in Erie.
She graduated magna cum laude from The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. While in college, Caitlin was a student volunteer at The White House in the Office of Presidential Correspondence during the Bush Administration.
A native of Pittsburgh, Caitlin resides in the South Hills.
In 2017, Caitlin was appointed to serve as a Republican conferee, helping to select the party’s nominee for the Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district special election.
Caitlin is an animal lover who owns two mixed-breed rescue dogs, Buddy and Webster.
A travel buff, Caitlin’s favorite destinations have been Paris, The Bahamas, San Diego, Las Vegas, Mackinaw Island and Ligonier, where she grew up spending her summers at her grandparents’ cabin.
