Penny Gerber Fellow
Brandon Boyer is the inaugural Penny Gerber Fellow at Ceisler Media. The fellowship, named in honor of former Ceisler Media Senior Analyst Penny Gerber, is designed to provide opportunity for a newly graduated student to break into the business.
Brandon assists Ceisler team members by developing research projects, preparing comprehensive media lists, maintaining content calendars and conducting media monitoring.
He graduated from Villanova University in 2019, majoring in communications and minoring in writing and rhetoric. During his college years, Brandon served as an intern for Philadelphia Councilwoman Cherelle Parker, writing releases and newsletters and managing her social media accounts.
He also developed his skills working for the Villanova University Library communications department and as director of a program designed to mentor and provide resources for underrepresented students. During his senior year at Villanova, he was involved with the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) where he participated in a male mentorship program and a summer program for incoming freshman.
Brandon grew up in Mt. Airy and Cheltenham, and graduated from Chestnut Hill Academy.
Brandon is a big fan of music, particularly hip hop, soul music and rhythm and blues.
He recently attended the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Convention in Miami, where he interviewed actor Anthony Anderson, radio host Angie Martinez and other notables. He then created a campaign – “The Story Behind the Story Tellers” – for the NABJ newspaper, “The Monitor.”
As a lifelong Philadelphia resident, Brandon is a big fan of local sports teams, particularly the Philadelphia 76ers, Eagles, and Villanova Wildcats.
